Living your life with the cards you were dealt has been a
popular approach to the discussion about the choice we have in deciding to
be a victim or a person who takes responsibility for their life. The card game
example is good as we can readily understand that while you may have hoped for
a better hand of cards, you must simply do your best with what you have been
given. While life has its challenges, we would do well to accept the reality that some of the difficulties we encounter along the
way can be surmounted.
Here’s something to ponder from M. Scott
Peck: "Life is difficult. This is
a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we
truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is
difficult – once we truly understand and accept it – then life is no longer
difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no
longer matters."
