Personal Accountability

From making those daily mundane choices to others that may have life altering implications, our journey through life presents us with ongoing decision-making opportunities that influence how our future may unfold. Taking responsibility for those choices, whether they were good or bad, is part of that process.

While we can strive to make good decisions, we can make bad choices as well. With regard to the latter, the problem is not so much the poor decision as it is how we remedy the situation. When adults make poor personal decisions, they may often look elsewhere to find solutions and can neglect looking in the mirror for some answers.

The following quote, author unknown, conveys the significance of that personal accountability.

“There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences.”
