Boston Breathes Relief

Now that the second person suspected of being involved in the Boston Marathon bombing last Monday has been arrested, residents living in that area will try and return to their routines. As people anxiously await the answer to the question ‘why’, we can hope that the quick arrest will discourage ‘copycat’ attention-seekers.

Like most of us wherever we live, we often think these terrible crimes always happen elsewhere and are shocked when it strikes close to home. Each passing incident serves as a reminder that these horrific tragedies can and do happen anywhere. While not living a life of paranoia, people should pay more attention to the environment around them. Unfortunately, we live in a world whereby we can safely predict that it is a matter of ‘when’, not ‘if’, the next incident occurs. What a sad reflection of our society.
