The stench associated with the Senator Mike Duffy saga
continues to increase with each passing day. Duffy should have done the proper
thing and resigned prior to Nigel Wright’s decision to leave. When many people are questioning the merits
of having a Senate, Duffy’s actions in relation to claiming an allowance he was
not entitled to simply undermines the significance of that institution. The
notion of removing bad apples from the barrel is something that should not be
ignored, particularly in those public organizations whose credibility is based
on having the confidence of the people they serve. Duffy is one bad apple that
needs to be removed now.
