Reality Check

With the recent revelations of Edward Snowden, the American who has disclosed some of the intelligence activities of the U.S. government, some people are apparently shocked at the extent of their government’s ability to monitor their communications. One cynical blogger had this to say; “The U.S. is an empire and empires are inherently evil”. Ironically, those that are outraged about this alleged intrusion into private matters are often the same people that will criticize authorities for not being one step ahead of terrorists. The naivety of some people, along with their expectations of what should and should not happen, never ceases to amaze.
