The decision by Canada’s Auditor General, Michael Ferguson,
to scrutinize the expenses of all Senators is a good one. There are bad apples
in every barrel and to believe that only the current four (Brazeau, Harb,
Duffy, Wallin) out of 105 Senators have crossed the line with their expense
claims would be a stretch of the imagination. The audit will hopefully weed out
other bad apples and provide Canadians with an assurance that their respect for
the Senate is being restored.
