I recently went to a local grocery store to pick up a few
items only to be greeted at the check-out by a cashier wearing a burqa. Having
an employee, whose primary function is to interact with the customer, hidden
behind a burqa is not the way, in my view, to encourage return visits. The
burqa tends to demonize and alienates many people from those wearing it. It
also creates a barrier towards promoting good customer relations.
An article at the following link provides “Five Reasons to
Ban the Burqa”. It is worth the time to read.Commentary and photography on a wide range of topics for the purpose of stimulating thought and discussion as well as providing a temporary diversion, informative and/or entertaining, from the daily routine. db

Ban The Burqa
It wasn’t too long ago that if you walked into a bank
disguised with your face hidden from view, the teller may expect hearing the
words “this is a hold-up” and press the alarm to summon the police. Bank
tellers now have the added challenge, before pressing the alarm, to
differentiate between a potential robber and someone wearing a burqa; the
clothing worn by certain Muslim women to hide their entire body except for a
narrow slot to see through.
