Made Where?

Q: What does Egypt, Lesotho, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia & India have in common with each other?

A: They provide most of the clothing worn in Canada.
The other, perhaps more disturbing common feature, is that most of the people in those countries work for slave wages and in an environment that few Canadians would subject themselves to. It is not uncommon to hear about fires and other types of accidents in some of the so-called foreign sweatshops.

While Quebec seems to be leading Canada with their “Made in Canada” apparel products, more jobs can be created for Canadians by clothing manufacturers. It is up to consumers however to generate the needed demand for Canadian made products in order to force the supply chain to change.
