A documentary on the
renovations to 24 Sussex Drive has the potential to offer Canadians a better
awareness of the need to address the current conditions of the Prime Minister's
residence. Providing Canadians with the chance to see the transition from its
present outdated state to one that meets present day construction standards, as
well as related environmental concerns, is an educational opportunity that
should not be subjectively rejected. Notwithstanding the understandable concern
with ensuring security upgrades are safeguarded, some effort should be made at
finding a suitable compromise. As noted in an Ottawa Citizen article, 24 Sussex
is "probably the most important home
in the whole country". Don't Canadians deserve having the chance to
see the before and after, including appropriate portions of the in between?
