Electoral Reform Committee Stacked

Canada's Liberal government is moving forward in addressing one of their election campaign promises, electoral reform. One of the first challenges however confronting the electoral reform committee is to be perceived as being objective. With Democratic Institutions Minister Maryam Monsef  stating "that 2015 was the last election to use a first-past-the-post-system" it is difficult to set aside the notion that a pre-determined outcome is not waiting to be tabled. In addition, the Liberals have solidified their position by giving themselves 6 spots on the10-member committee. As the credibility factor with  the current composition of this newly formed committee is far from evident, there will always be some concern regarding a hidden agenda. An 8-member committee (3 Liberals, 3 Conservatives, 2 NDP) may have had a better credibility with more Canadians.
