Media Concern About Trudeau's Vacation Exaggerated
Prime Minister Justin
Trudeau deserves private family time. What started a couple of days ago as a
question about why the P.M. was not here to usher in 2017 has morphed into why
didn't he tell the media about his family vacation plans. There are more
important issues to address than trying to ramp this up to a level of exaggerated
concern where some in the media think it
should be. Those that needed to know where the P.M was were aware and most
Canadians are likely fine with that. This is less about secrecy and more about
privacy and security considerations. Perhaps if the PMO had briefed the media assigned
to cover the P.M. on the details and asking them to respect his privacy by not
disclosing any information that could impact security concerns all this fuss
could have been avoided. Media concerns are much ado about nothing.
