First, Duffy should have never been appointed a senator and
the PMO must accept that mistake. As a long-time established resident of
Ottawa, his appointment as a senator for PEI based on the fact that he had a ‘cottage’
there is beyond comprehension. That aside, Duffy ought to have known that he
did not qualify for some of the entitlements he managed to obtain. Saying that
his claims were approved by someone does not relieve him from his actions in
seeking compensation he was not entitled to. Duffy is not only an embarrassment
for the PMO, he is a disgrace to the Senate. Although his theatrics provides
material for the opposition parties, and the media, the disgrace associated
with this tawdry affair is his alone.

Duffy Has No Moral Compass
Senator Mike Duffy, once a perceived asset for the
Conservative Party is fast becoming a liability of gargantuan portion. Duffy’s
audacious statement “they have no moral compass” would have been more
appropriately stated with the word “I” and not “they”. Too much time is being
spent on what has transpired since this affair became public knowledge. Duffy’s
tactic at playing victim only erodes his any remaining credibility. While some
people may choose to focus on what Nigel Wright, the PMO and Prime Minister Harper
may have or not have said/done since Duffy was caught with his hands in the
cookie jar; we need to look back to what initiated the tumbling of this
particular house of cards.
