Quebec's Hypocritical Parti Quebecois

When it comes to politics, Quebec’s Parti Quebecois has earned the gold medal in the category of hypocrisy. Party leader Pauline Marois has stated that their party, if they win next month’s provincial election, will introduce legislation that will ban anyone from obtaining public services if their face/heads are covered in any type of clothing that has religious connotations. This more defined approach to separating religion and state has gained a lot of support from some Quebecers who have become increasingly vocal about losing their cultural identity to the changes occurring from immigration.
The hypocrisy of this matter is that there is a crucifix on the wall behind the Speaker’s chair in Quebec’s National Assembly and it would remain there. Marois offered an explanation that the crucifix is part of Quebec’s culture. What a bunch of hogwash. As I have mentioned before, the world would be a much better place if those with religious beliefs kept them for their homes and places of worship.
