Syrian President
Bashar Assad is either unwilling or unable to recognize that Syria’s freedom
fighters have created a momentum for change that is unstoppable. In some locations, freedom fighters
are so determined to gain their democracy that they have been successful in thwarting
other Islamist extremists from getting a footfold. While
Assad has had several opportunities to create the necessary conditions for a positive
change, he has continued to ignore the pleas for a peaceful resolution opting
to use the force of his military against his own people.
Libya’s Moammar Gadhafi
tried the same tactics and failed. Assad seems to be heading in the same direction
and may ultimately encounter the same sort of demise as Gadhafi. His choice.
