Israel's Concerns: Real or Not?

Israel continues to keep the threats of military action against Iran in the headlines. Although Iran has consistently denied any plans to develop a nuclear weapon, Israel thinks otherwise. From my perspective, Israel’s potential military action would only lead to further political and economic destabilization in that part of the world.

While there was general widespread support for the United States and its allies when they went after those responsible following the terrorist attacks of 11 years ago, that support dwindled when the U.S. invaded Iraq. The recent uprisings in Egypt, Libya and Syria, even though well-motivated, have only added to the instability.

Even if Iran did have a nuclear weapon, I doubt they would be foolish enough to use it. Regardless, there are enough problems that need to be addressed without complicating the process with another one. Israel needs to be told in no uncertain terms that they will suffer the consequences if they initiate any military action that does not have full support of their allies.
