Mount Washington, N.H.

At 6288 feet, Mount Washington, New Hampshire, is the highest peak in the north-eastern United States. The mountain also lays claim to having some of the world’s worst weather, including the wind speed record of 231 MPH. As can be seen at the top-center of photo below, the peak is often hidden by clouds. While trees cover the lower part of the mountain, the upper section is rugged with some periodic unforgiving weather. The corridor for the Cog Railway can be seen in the photo left of center as a straight line on the lower half of the mountain and which curves to the right about midway.
