Now that Nike has unceremoniously dropped Lance Armstrong
from their payroll, Armstrong has passed the point of no-return from the hero pedestal
he once occupied. The descent from the apex in popularity has been rapid. Lance
Armstrong will not be remembered as a top role-model or world hero in cycling but
rather as the antithesis of true sportsmanship. If he had any remaining sense
of integrity he would come forward taking ownership for his conduct and
apologize for hoodwinking his supporters and fans into believing he was
something he was not.
