Senate Sponges

Never too far from public scrutiny, the Senate is once again under examination. While it would be unfair to taint all senators with the same brush, it is evident there are those who, perhaps not sufficiently satisfied with the senate appointment, opt to exploit whatever benefit that may come their way. Even though it may take some time to sort out whether or not Canada wants to retain a Senate, the government should act quickly to plug loopholes that are being unduly manipulated. Equally important however is the need for the government to properly investigate the background of those being considered for appointment to ensure they possess the highest levels of integrity and whose personal conduct is beyond reproach. Canadians expect no less than that.
