CTC or Rim?

Well, it is official! Ottawa’s Scotiabank Place is now the Canadian Tire Centre. The use of the word “center” or “centre” now seems to be the most popular term used for big arenas. Even the storied Maple Leaf Gardens, a name that endured for 68 years, is now the Air Canada Centre.

Some Torontonians refer to their arena simply as the “ACC” and “The Hangar”, the latter perhaps due to Air Canada planes. That being the case, yesterday’s suggestion of the “The Rim” should carry some weight. I imagine the initials “CTC” will be the preferred choice. Who cares anyway? Right?
