Connected 24/7 Is Unhealthy

I wonder how long it will be before the Government of Canada follows Germany in banning managers from calling or emailing personnel after the end of the workday? The new rules, adopted by Germany’s employment ministry, follow those already in place at BMW, Volkswagen and Puma.

With many workers routinely checking their emails during their off-hours, this has created additional stress for some people. By advising managers not to contact their employees after hours, unless in emergency situations, it relieves the worker of the need to check their emails.

From my perspective, we need to step back from the thinking that we need to be connected 24/7. Modern technology is there to serve us, not enslave us.
