End daylight saving time.....permanently

Sometime during the late hours of this Saturday or on Sunday, we will once again be faced with our biannual clock adjustments, this time rolling one hour back to standard time. In 4+ months, on March 13th 2016, we'll return to daylight saving time along with some people grumbling about losing the hour of sleep they gained in November. Isn't it time we re-evaluate this bothersome ritual?  While the perceived merits of daylight saving time remain the subject of widespread debate, it appears that reasons for the status quo are based primarily on political considerations. Given that the actual benefits of time change are questionable, how long will it be before the rest of Canada follows Saskatchewan with their fixed standard time? Ontario Premier Wynne's leadership on this issue could create the needed ripple effect.
