Although there are still some legislative hurdles to cross
it is goodbye NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) and hello USMCA
(United States Mexico Canada Agreement). I believe it was Pres. Trump that took
exception to the words ‘free trade’. While it is understandable there are those
anxious to claim a winning outcome, it may likely take some time before it is
determined that the final document is a win-win-win for all three countries. Pending
the complete implementation of the USMCA, expected to be by 2020, it would be
helpful to know what the plus, minus and alternative columns add up to so that we
can know if the long-term gains will offset the short-term losses. Citizens
need that information in order to make a more informed choice at the ballot box.
