The reading of the fine print in the USMCA (aka: NAFTA 2.0)
has begun. While the leaders of the U.S., Mexico and Canada are boasting a
win-win-win, an understandable position from a politician’s perspective, it
seems that Canada found itself at the 11th hour between a rock and a
hard place, evolving to an exercise less about negotiations and more about
damage control. Even though the U.S. tossed Canada a few bones, they appear to
have gained more than they gave up. With survival being a priority for both a French
poodle and a chihuahua when up against an aggressive pit-bull, the final
analysis for the U.S., Mexico and Canada may be a Win-win-win respectively.
