The decision by the Government of Alberta to cut oil
production is having some negative consequences for that sector of the economy.
It wasn’t that long ago that Alberta created a “Heritage Fund”, mostly from oil
revenues and now having $17.5B in assets, to create a financial safety net for
the future. Is that being used to offset the current problems? It was also around
those same years when then Premier Ralph Klein uttered something along the
lines that the eastern bastards could freeze in the dark. It is interesting to
see that Alberta is now looking to those same eastern bastards for help.
