Ontario has voted and now Doug Ford has to deliver on promises
made while the Liberals heal their wounds and try to reinvent themselves for
the next election. As the NDP will relish in the thought of being the official
opposition for 4 years, Horwath is expected to be a challenging opposition
leader and Ford will have to be well prepared to weather the grilling.
Even though Ford may have been unable to project the usual leadership
image during the campaign his message was straightforward and generally acceptable.
Given Ford’s lack of experience in provincial politics he will hopefully
surround himself with the talent needed to govern effectively. He can demonstrate
his eagerness to do well by starting with a cabinet that has a diversified base
of experience and who are able to regain the confidence that Ontarians should
have in their government.
