The great thing about
Canadian politics is that religion is a non-issue in electoral campaigns.
Perhaps the Americans can learn something from Canada. With all the bible
thumpers in the United States, an atheist would have no chance at ever being
elected president. After all, what would they do with their “In God We Trust”
motto?

U.S. Presidents & Religion
With 76% of the
American population claiming to be Christians, the United States presidential races
always inject some discussion about the candidate’s religious beliefs. Mitt
Romney, the current GOP pick for president and a Mormon, is being closely scrutinized for his religious beliefs to assess his suitability for the White House. As there are those that
may still look at Mormonism with jaundice eye, that may be a negative factor
for Romney at the ballot box.
