Who Can Trust The Taliban?

Media reports suggest that the Taliban are willing to negotiate peace and disown al-Qaida in exchange for international political recognition. This is the same bunch that has just threatened to kidnap or kill Prince Harry who recently arrived in Afghanistan for a tour of duty. If the Taliban really wanted to show good faith they would do more than simply reject al-Qaida. While recognizing the Taliban may seem to some like a good idea right now, when you consider their history, the longer term implications appear less than positive.
