Ohio
Republican Senator Rob Portman has always expressed his opposition to same-sex
marriage. Considered a leading republican, Portman now says it is okay for gays
to marry. Why? Portman’s 21-year-old son recently informed his father that he
was gay and that forced Portman to change his position on gay marriage. Without
that personal connection it remains uncertain if Portman would have changed his
view, perhaps opting to maintain the Republican position on the matter. So much
for so-called principles or is this a question of hypocrisy?
