BC Terrorists or Bozos?

A couple of days ago, the RCMP announced that they had foiled a Canada Day bombing attempt that was to target the British Columbia legislative buildings. The information released to the media indicated that John Nuttall and Amanda Korody had been charged with a variety of terrorist related offences. Referring to the accused as “self-radicalized” and “inspired by al-Qaida ideology”, the RCMP stated the accused intended on inflicting maximum carnage.

Notwithstanding the potential damage these two people may have done, they can probably best be described as a couple of bozos. With each passing day, we are learning more about these two sad sacks. Nuttall’s history of petty crime and dependence on social assistance suggests that he did not exactly have a lot going for him. Nuttall and his partner appear to have acted alone without the benefit of really knowing what they were doing. Based on the information that has been learned through the media, it would seem that these two clowns with their limited knowledge of making an explosive device could have actually done more harm to themselves had the police not intervened. If I was their lawyer, I think I would encourage them to go with a plea of insanity as their behaviour suggests just that.
