Senate Scandal---Nightmare?

As Conservative Party members make their way to Calgary this weekend, the senate situation will likely detract from the convention’s normal agenda. For some people, this Duffy-Wallin-Brazeau affair is evolving like a Three Stooges movie and for others, perhaps Stephen Harper, more like the movie “Nightmare on Elm Street”.

While Duffy et al may find it difficult to obtain sympathy from the average Canadian, they alone are the authors of their misfortunes. Stephen Harper needs to clear the air in a manner that is better than what he has said/not said thus far. With each passing day, the explanation for this tawdry affair seems to be adjusted. If Harper is as clean as he has stated, then he owes it to himself to welcome a full and transparent review of what transpired. Until then, the dark cloud currently hanging over his head will stay. Unlike other problem situations that often fade away when ignored, this affair seems to be taking on a life of its own.
