Earth calling Justin
Trudeau. While Trudeau's election campaign promise regarding Syrian refugees
connected with many people, to toss out numbers that for all intents and
purposes was really unattainable in the time frames noted was simply irresponsible.
After making the promise of having 25,000 refugees here in Canada by the end of
2015, Trudeau had to lower that figure to 10,000 with the promise that the
balance would be here in a couple of more months. Amid more promises of
resettling up to 50,000 refugees in Canada by the end of 2016, the government
is now saying it is possible the 10,000
planned for this year may not all be on Canadian soil by year-end. Although the
humanitarian aspect of this endeavour is remarkable, hopefully the government will
reconsider creating objectives which are beyond reach when it addresses other
pressing priorities.
