A "T" Tale

Once upon a time there were two people that wanted to lead their country in a different direction from what the majority of people were accustomed to. Prior to the election they decided to focus their message on issues that were close to their hearts but not necessarily issues that appealed to a majority of voters. Both wannabe-leaders were successful at tapping into what their voting base wanted to hear and it worked. Their voting bases rejoiced on election day hoping that things would unfold as promised. One succeeded by telling a series of ongoing mistruths and the other with a priority on identity politics, group hugs and attempts to rewrite history with a series of apologies and in some situations, financial compensation.

Here’s the thing, both leaders are approaching re-election and with the exception of their diehard voting base, many voters have expressed disappointment and will probably look for a change. They are motivated by the thinking that past performance is an indicator of future behaviour and they are feeling, perhaps hoping, that the winds of change are gaining momentum.
