The verbal swipes being exchanged between
the Ontario Liberals and the federal Conservatives is an unfortunate
distraction from those issues that need to be discussed. These types of public
squabbles which tend to serve only the interests of the political parties
involved does little in providing voters with meaningful information. Ontarians
have been hoodwinked long enough. Election campaigns propelled by mudslinging
and annoying toothless slogans that fail to communicate anything of real
significance will simply have some voters tuning out. We need to see the three
main party leaders placing more emphasis on where they are headed and not where
we have been. Perhaps a televised public debate will offer some clarity to this
less than clear campaign.
