Considering the growing widespread opposition as to the
location and shape of the Memorial to the Victims of Communism, Pierre Poilievre continues to be unwilling, or
perhaps unable based on direction from the PMO, to dislodge his head from the
sand. His latest attempt to hoodwink Canadians to his line of thinking is
laughable. A donation of $14,000 on a project estimated at $5.5-million,
although appreciated by those seeking to build the memorial, is not a
significant amount. While donations of any size to any worthwhile cause is
always appreciated, particularly if the funds come from another country,
Poilievre's use of the word generous, normally defined as large in size or
quantity, has more to do with pushing forward with the plan. Poilievre's
mention of the "importance for this
memorial" is not the issue. The problem rests with his government ignoring
the legitimate concerns regarding the location and design. As there are still a
few months until election day, the government has some time to reconsider its
position.
