Lance Armstrong’s announcement
that he will not fight the doping charges against him brings another embarrassment
for the sporting world. Even though there are several people that would attest
to Armstrong’s doping activities, he has continued to deny all allegations. His
refusal to address the charges means that the United States Anti-Doping Agency
can now proceed to nullify Armstrong’s seven Tour de France titles. While this
is another reminder for athletes to play by the rules, there will continue to
be those whose desperation to win has no respect for principles.
