Athletes Must Endure In Silence

Right or wrong, Olympic games are mostly about medals and bragging rights. While some people may continue to debate a referee's decision that ultimately led to Canada’s controversial loss to the U.S. women’s soccer team, history may show that it was that game that increased soccer’s popularity in Canada. Although FIFA’s decision to investigate the post-game comments of Christine Sinclair, captain of Canada’s soccer team, will not change the results of the game, its conclusions may serve as a reminder to Olympic athletes that when it comes to officiating, athletes must endure in silence. db
