Dwindling of Responsibilty

We are living in a time when more and more people are trying to play the ‘victim’ card to distance themselves from addressing their own questionable conduct. The most recent example of this involves Royston Christie who was recently evicted from his public housing apartment. The Caldwell Avenue address was well known to police for drug related problems. In April 2017, police and paramedics responded to two overdose cases which prompted an investigation. Police executed a search warrant and in addition to finding drug related substances, they also seized a powder they believed to be fentanyl. Christie was charged, jailed and evicted from public housing. Lab tests, the results of which were only determined later, indicated the powder was not fentanyl and the charges were withdrawn. An Ottawa Citizen Aug. 11th editorial, written by Mohammed Adam seem slanted toward portraying Royston Christie as a victim. Mr. Adam is of the opinion that Mr. Christie deserves an apology. What rubbish! His comments, particularly injecting the words “Christie was innocent” in his remarks, overlooks the other drug related material discovered during the search. Rather than complaining, perhaps Mr. Christie should be grateful he didn’t get caught this time and, if he is not directly involved with illicit drugs, use the opportunity to distance himself from those that are. Time to step up Mr. Christie and accept responsibility for what was going on in your apartment.
