If you are somewhat addicted to the ongoing and disturbing gong
show that is unfolding at the White House you may wake up each morning
wondering about what has happened overnight or what will happen today. Although
most elected Republicans have essentially tolerated Donald Trump’s impulsive
behaviour, there are signs that he is starting to lose support, and rightfully
so. As a contestant on the television
show Survivor, Trump would be an easy pick to be the first voted off and probably
garnering all the votes. While Trump’s conduct is alarming, it is more troubling
to realize there is a sizeable segment of the population that is willing to
tolerate his indiscretions. That merely serves to underscore the challenges in
trying to restore America’s spot on the world stage.
This past weekend, Trump couldn’t resist badmouthing the
Mueller investigation team and expressing glee with someone losing their job
and a portion of their pension benefit only days before retiring. Taking to Twitter
to relish in the firing of the FBI deputy/director, Andrew McCabe, was
shameful. Mr. Trump, have you no sense of decency?
