Will Jail Trump Health Care?

The lack of specific details associated with the announcement by Ontario Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services Marie-France Lalonde for a new Ottawa jail suggests this may not happen for another decade. In Jan. 2010, and with a site already designated, officials from all levels of government announced that Orleans would be getting a medical hub. The initial promise was that ground-breaking would start in March 2011 with the latest “shovels in the ground” date being in 2020. If that is a normal timeline, the new jail should not be expected prior to 2027. If it does happen before then, it could infer that the living accommodations of those incarcerated are deemed to be a higher priority than health care.
